Have you still got an Ugly Facebook Page URL?

As you all know I follow my Twitter feed pretty closely and time after time I see people promoting their Facebook pages with a url that looks a little something like this http://www.facebook.com/pages/Your-Wedding-Website/1234455667765. What many people miss is that there is a way they can change this in a matter of a few seconds. Below you will find the steps to change this to something far prettier!

[box type=”alert”]UPDATE! I forgot to add this in earlier but you need over 30 Fans of your page in order to be able to do this.[/box]

You need to think carefully and have clear mind on what you want to call your Facebook Page as you can’t change this at a later date.

First step log into your Facebook Account.
Once you have logged in you will see your usual Facebook news feed. On the left hand side you will see a small menu with applications (or games) in like it is below.
Select Adverts and Pages and this will bring up a page that has a list of the pages you are an Administrator for.
Select Edit Page and this will bring up the edit section. On the menu on the left hand side you will see the following menu which you want to select Marketing.
You will then see the following page which you want to choose the Create Alias
This will then bring up the option for you to create your “Vanity URL”
Once you are here select the page that you want to name. If you have already chosen a name you will get an error but if you haven’t you will be given a choice of the name of the page if it is available or to choose to type your own. Remember that it is just like your website URL if it is easy to remember then people will associate it with your brand.

Below is what happens when you have already chosen your Vanity URL name:

Mental note, choose better examples when creating how to pages :o)

But you will see from the above that my Facebook Vanity URL is http://www.facebook.com/WeddingSEO which is completely relevant to my website and helps when you create your brand strength! You can shortcut through to the Vanity URL page by going to http://www.facebook.com/username
